South Carolina student journalists at the 2025 SCSPA fall conference will hear from a media leader who has combined creativity, storytelling and community impact in his career.
Darryl Huger, news director at South Carolina ETV, will deliver the keynote address on October 15 at the University of South Carolina campus. The conference brings together student journalists from across the state for a full day of workshops, networking and celebration.
With more than two decades of experience in creative direction, production and brand development, Huger has led digital strategy for one of the state’s largest public media organizations. His leadership has helped SCETV expand its presence across platforms and deepen its connection with South Carolina communities.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina’s College of Information and Communications, Huger is known for championing young creatives and pushing for innovation in digital media. His work at ETV spans everything from educational programming and visual storytelling to managing statewide campaigns and mentoring the next generation of media professionals.
Huger’s keynote will be a part of a day of sessions designed to engage students from across the state in best practices for scholastic media. SCSPA will also recognize the state’s top student publications and individual work during an afternoon awards ceremony.
