Join us for a day of learning and celebration on Tuesday, April 13 at the University of South Carolina Russell House Student Union and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Educational sessions for all types of student media will be led by students, adviser, professors and media professionals. Students and advisers are encouraged to submit a session proposal form if they are interested in presenting at the conference. After a lunch break, the day concludes with our awards program featuring  program and individual awards for broadcast, newsprint and online members.

At the end of the conference, advisers will earn three hours of professional development credit. Advisers who present a session will receive five hours.

Registration will open in January 2027.

Schedule:

9-9:15 a.m. Arrival and registration

9:30-10:15 a.m. Class session I

10:25-11:10 a.m. Class session II

11:20 a.m.-12:05 p.m. Class session III

12:10-1:15 p.m. – Lunch – Student and non-adviser chaperone lunch is on your own in the Russell House food court or at nearby restaurants. Note that Russell House no longer accepts cash for payments; cards are required. Adviser lunch will be provided for those who want to join us in Russell House

1:20-2 p.m. Awards program

Awards Program includes:

• Broadcast, newsprint and online evaluations
• Broadcast, newsprint and online competitions
• SC Journalist of the Year
• SCSPA Scholarships
